ABC’s Robin Roberts to Speak at SNHU’s
2008 Women’s Leadership Summit
Manchester, N.H. (April 14, 2008)
ABC News Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts will serve as keynote speaker at Southern
New Hampshire University’s Women’s Leadership Summit on Friday, June 13.
Roberts, who authored From the Heart: 7 Rules to Live By, is one of more than 50 speakers and presenters who will participate in the all-day event.
The event was created by Dr. Annabel Beerel, SNHU’s Ethics Chair, in response to increasing concerns about New Hampshire’s wage disparity between women and men. Beerel has partnered with women leaders from more than 50 businesses and organizations in order to generate awareness about issues facing the state’s women.
“The Women’s Leadership Summit is intended to advance society in New Hampshire by helping women advance both personally and professionally through high-level leadership development and career skills training provided by experts,” says Beerel.
The Summit will begin with registration and a continental breakfast, and include presentations by several national speakers, two tracks with panel discussions and workshops, a luncheon, networking opportunities, an expo, and an end-of-day Connection Reception.
"Women leaders from all over the state will come together to create a content-rich day of professional training,” said Marianne M. Jones, Executive Director of the Women’s Fund of New Hampshire. “This conference is one action step that we can take to invest in the future of New Hampshire by investing in women.”
Other speakers include:
Geri Denterlein, founder of Denterlein Worldwide Public Affairs and author of A Chick’s Guide to Boston;
Sara Laschever, co-author of Women Don’t Ask: The High Cost of Avoiding Negotiation and Positive Strategies for Change; and
Tina Packer, author of Power Plays: Shakespeare’s Lessons in Leadership & Management and founder of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA.
"I believe one of the most important things I can do as a business leader is to recognize and develop talent in our workforce,” said Cathleen Schmidt, President, Citizens Bank, New Hampshire. “That’s why I am especially proud that the Citizens Bank Foundation is a leading underwriter of the Women’s Leadership Summit. This event will provide a very special opportunity for New Hampshire women to learn how to optimize their careers, to enhance their leadership and professional skills, and to be inspired.”
